Numbers on a check include the routing number, account number and check number, notes Check Advantage. To find the routing number, look at the first set of numbers on the MICR line, located at the bottom of the check. The account number is located directly next to the routing number.
MICR stands for Magnetic Ink Character Recognition, and the routing number and account number are separated by two symbols, according to Check Advantage. Routing numbers are assigned to each individual bank. The account number identifies the customer's account. The number of the check is located at the top right corner and on the MICR line next to the account number.
