Emergency financial assistance is available to veterans through organizations such as the Armed Forces Foundation, Army Emergency Relief, Hope for the Warriors, the Navy Marine Corps Relief Society and Operation First Response, as Veterans' Families United Foundation notes. Other emergency aid includes free medical flights and care for pets.
Other sources for financial assistance, sometimes including emergency loans, for veterans facing financial hardship include Operation Homefront, Rebuild Hope and the American Red Cross, according to Veterans' Families United Foundation. In addition, the Service Members Civil Relief Act protects service members on duty from eviction, lease termination, falling behind on their mortgages, default judgments and high interest rates. Other organizations provide further veterans' services, including support during the transition away from combat.
