When a student's OneAccount has funds in it, the Liberty Higher One card can be used as a debit card wherever Mastercard is accepted. Financial aid, refunds and payments from campus jobs can be deposited to the OneAccount and accessed immediately through the card. The school's website claims that having financial aid funds and refunds deposited into the OneAccount is the fastest means of receiving them, but this should be equally true of direct deposit made to any bank account.

The card also has a rewards program called OneRewards. Shopping at participating merchants can earn cash back on purchases. The percentage amount varies by merchant. Some participating merchants include Kohl's, Sephora, Best Buy, Macy's, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom and the Apple Store.

The card can be used to withdraw cash from ATMs, but a fee of $2.50 is charged unless the ATM used is a Higher One machine. Four ATMs are available on campus. Higher One ATMs can also sometimes be found at other colleges.

Unlike some Higher One cards at other schools, the Campus Autoload and Flex Account features are not available at Liberty University.
