Kroger fuel points allow drivers to save as much as $1 per gallon on gas at Kroger and 10 cents per gallon at participating Shell locations as of 2015. Shoppers earn fuel points by purchasing qualifying items at Kroger.
Qualifying items to build Kroger fuel points include groceries, gift cards (which provide double points), and prescriptions that are not federally funded. Excluded items include alcohol and tobacco products. Spending $25 on groceries yields 25 fuel points; spending $25 on gift card purchases yields 50 fuel points. For every 100 fuel points a person accrues in a month, he can save 10 cents per gallon at Kroger or Shell. While the 10 cent cap applies at Shell, the gas discount at Kroger increases 10 more cents for every $100 spent during that month, with the maximum discount at $1 per gallon for 1,000 fuel points each month.
