Aflac insurance works by providing policy holders with cash benefits in the event of a claim. For example, if a policy holder is involved in a covered accident, Aflac sends cash benefits that the individual can then determine how to spend. These funds could be used to cover housing expenses during recovery or to help with out of pocket medical bills, such as copays and deductibles.
A policy holder who has an Aflac policy for a specified disease, such as cancer, would also submit a claim, and then receive cash benefits. These benefits can be used as the policy holder wishes, but they can also be used to cover experimental treatments, travel associated with receiving treatment or out of network specialists.
Aflac also offers group benefits that can be purchased through an employer. These benefits are considered voluntary and can be offered in addition to or in place of standard health insurance. The employee can then pay premiums via payroll deduction for the same types of policies available to individuals shopping on their own.Learn more about Health Insurance
