The John Deere 730 tractor was designed as a raw-crop, wheatland-style and high crop tractor. These tasks are performed by the three variants of the 730 model: 730 general-purpose, 730 standard and the 730 high-crop tractors, respectively.
The John Deere 730 model is an improvement on it predecessor, the 720 model. It was notably the most fuel-efficient diesel tractor, having held fuel economy record for 27 years at the Nebraska Tractor Test Laboratory.
The 730 model's fuel capacity is 24.5 gallons of all fuel, 20 gallons of diesel or 26.5 gallons of gasoline. It operates on manual steering with an option of shifting to power steering.
