A 14-year-old person can find a job at restaurants and stores. The list extends to all jobs that aren't hazardous and don't include manufacturing or mining. In certain states, such as Georgia, young individuals under the age of 18 have to obtain an Employment Certificate before being hired.
As of 2014, teenagers under the age of 16 are limited to 3 hours of work per day and 18 hours per week. They are also not allowed to work during school hours. During the school year, they are not allowed to work past 7 p.m., although they can work until 9 p.m. in the period between June 1 and Labor Day.
