An overnight stocker has a variety of duties including stocking shelves, inspecting inventory, unpacking stock, reading inventory sheets and planning when different items need to be replaced. They also are responsible for receiving merchandise and helping organize the warehouse.
The average salary for an overnight stocker is between $16,000 and $28,000 per year. Most employers require a GED or High School diploma to work as a stocker while higher degrees often lead to promotions within the store. As stockers work closely with the inventory of a store, they can be moved up to supervisor or be in charge of the inventory.
