How Does JCPenney Rewards Work?

The J.C. Penney Co. rewards program is for people who have a JCPenney credit card. Reward points are earned every time something is purchased, and then the points are redeemed for coupons.

With its rewards program, every $1 spent on qualifying purchases is equal to one reward point, according to JCPenney. If 100 points or more are earned in one month, then a $10 reward is earned. Reward points do expire at the end of each month, and they are redeemed either in the store or online. Other benefits to being a JCPenney card holder are special events during the year where extra bonus points are earned. Cardholders also receive special offers and coupons throughout the year.

There are opportunities to be qualified for a gold card, which offers more perks. If $500 or more is spent on a JCPenney card on two different days in one year, then that card is eligible for gold status. Perks that are offered to gold card members are things such as special financing on purchases such as window treatments and furniture, free shipping days throughout the year, gifts sent on the cardholder's birthday, and passbooks with special deals and offers. Platinum cardholders enjoy the same benefits as gold cardholders, but the spending requirement is $1,000 over two days in a calendar year.
