Jackson National Life Insurance Company is an insurance and investment firm based in Lansing, Michigan. The company, colloquially known as Jackson, offers annuities and fixed income investments. It is a division of the British corporation Prudential.
Jackson was founded in 1961 in Jackson, Michigan, prior to moving to its current headquarters in Lansing, Michigan. Originally, the firm sold term life insurance products, but it switched into investment tools shortly after. In 1970, Jackson terminated its sales force to work with independent agencies. Due to its business success, Prudential agreed to acquire the firm in 1986. Starting in 1995, the company began its current model, selling annuities and investment products.
As of 2015, Jackson has affiliate offices in eight other states: Colorado, Tennessee, California, Illinois, Florida, Wisconsin, North Dakota and New York.
