IRS tax tables are not included on the actual 1040A form, as found on an IRS webpage that discusses how to choose between the 1040, 1040A and 1040EZ forms. However, the same page links to a 1040A instruction manual that has tax tables near the end.
The earned income credit table is also in the 1040A manual, but tax preparers should not confuse this with the tax table, cautions the IRS. The tax table indicates the amount of tax owed. It is organized by ranges of annual taxable income for single, married and head of household filing statuses. Earned income credit is for lower-income taxpayers. It sometimes provides refunds even if no tax is owed or withheld.
