As of 2015, DentalInsurance.com provides a list of 13 insurance companies that offer dental coverage. Dental insurance is available as a part of some comprehensive health plans or as a separate, stand-alone dental plan, reports HealthCare.gov.
Under the Affordable Care Act, insurance companies do not have to offer dental coverage to adults, says HealthCare.gov. Dental coverage must be made available to children 18 or younger, but the individual can choose whether or not to purchase it.
