As of November 2014, Ikea delivers through two methods: parcel and truck. Truck delivery must be set up in advance and costs at least $99. It includes two delivery people who will place the item where the owner requests it and remove old mattresses or appliances if necessary.
Ikea uses parcel delivery for orders less than 100 pounds except for highly breakable goods and other products unfit for the parcel method, as of November 2014. For truck delivery, customers can pick a delivery date that is more than two weeks beyond Ikea's estimate but may need to pay storage fees. Truck delivery is only for the continental United States, while the parcel method is available to Hawaii and Alaska.
