An intent to move letter, also known as a notice to vacate, should include the date of the notice, the address of the property being vacated, a forwarding address and other contact information of the tenant. A request for the security deposit should be noted.
Any disputes or matters that need addressing before vacating the property should be included in the letter. The tenant should state his reasons for leaving and include a date for a proposed walk-through inspection. The letter should be signed by the tenant. Tenants can also refer to the lease to determine if any other information is required in the notice to vacate.
