A patient's ability to perform simple daily tasks is measured before assisted living care is provided. OHIP measures the ability of a patient to perform activities of daily living, such as dressing, bathing, walking and grooming, and instrumental activities of daily living, including handling financial matters, meal preparation and household chores. If someone has difficulty performing these and other common tasks, in-home care may be recommended and in those instances, OHIP helps cover the cost.
