Some of the highest paid actors and actresses, as of 2015, are Robert Downey Jr., Jackie Chan, Vin Diesel, Jennifer Lawrence and Scarlett Johansson, according to Forbes. Forbes calculates money earned from June 1, 2014 to June 1, 2015 before subtracting taxes and management fees, as well as data from sources including Nielsen, Box Office Mojo and IMDb.
Robert Downey Jr. tops the list of actors, having made $80 million. He earned this from his repeated main character role in the Iron Man movies. An enormous portion of this money came from his role in "Avengers: Age of Ultron."
Coming in second is Jackie Chan, who made $50 million. His role in "Dragon Blade," a very high-grossing film in China, boosted his earnings. He also can attribute his high earnings to other business ventures, such as a cinema chain, Chan-branded merchandise and a Segway dealership.
Vin Diesel came in third, racking in $47 million, largely from his continued starring role in the Fast and the Furious franchise. "Furious 7" grossed $1.5 billion as of 2015.
Jennifer Lawrence earned $52 million, becoming the highest paid actress. Most of this came from her continued starring role in The Hunger Games trilogy. She also has a lucrative Dior contract to supplement her income.
Scarlett Johansson came in as the second highest paid actress, having earned $35.5 million from her roles in "Avengers: Age of Ultron" and "Lucy." Johansson also boosted her income with SodaStream and Dolce and Gabbana endorsements.
