Heys Lightweight Luggage has over 2 dozen manufacturing facilities in China and one in Taiwan. The Canadian-based parent company, Hays International, Inc., bases its manufacturing overseas so that the company can quickly move prototype designs into production and out to retailers.
Heys International started manufacturing its brightly colored, hard-sided luggage in 1986 in Mississauga, Canada. The company introduced a lightweight, hard-sided carry-on case, the xCase, in 2003. Almost immediately after introducing the xCase, many airlines began introducing baggage fees, which has helped Heys International grow into a global manufacturer and distributor of travel products. Its products include the xScale portable luggage scale, the EcoCase made from 100 percent post-industrial recycled plastic, as well as a collection of backpacks and travel accessories.
