The replacement of Hecht's stores with Macy's took place in 2005 and 2006. Prior to this changeover, Hecht's had 81 stores in total. In Delaware, New Jersey and most of Pennsylvania, their stores were called Strawbridge's. The first Hecht's store was founded in 1857.
