At a Neighborhood Assistance Corporation of America homebuyer workshop, attendees are briefed concerning real estate issues, Department of Housing and Urban Development programs and the process of purchasing a home, says NACA. This workshop gives people the foundations they need to become NACA qualified. Upon completing the workshop, a person can make an appointment with an NACA housing counselor and ultimately secure an NACA mortgage,
The NACA is a nonprofit organization dedicated to expanding affordable home ownership opportunities, reports NACA. An NACA mortgage allows people to receive mortgages without paying any fees or closing costs, even if they have imperfect credit scores. NACA counselors help people with loans modify their loans and receive better terms.
NACA can also help members effect repairs and property renovations, says NACA. Founded in 1988, NACA is the biggest housing services nonprofit in the nation. One of NACA’s main functions is to convince lenders to offer working class borrowers prime-rate loans. As of 2015, NACA has facilitated more than $10 billion in funding commitments.
In April 2015, over 5,000 Detroit residents attended an NACA workshop offered in partnership with the Detroit Neighborhood Initiative, which seeks to help Detroit residents receive home mortgages without making down payments, according to The Detroit News.
