A group interview is done with a group of people, as opposed to in a traditional one-on-one interview. There are two common types of group interviews: the candidate group interview and the panel group interview.
The candidate group interview involves a group of potential candidates all interviewing for the same position. In the more common panel group interview, the job candidate is interviewed by two or more people in a panel setting. This interview is a question-and-answer session, involving questions regarding previous work experience and future possible scenarios.
Group interviews are popular due to the amount of input the company receives on possible new hires. When more than one person recommends a job candidate, the company is less likely to make a bad hiring decision.
