Group rates for health insurance are less-expensive and subsidized for the employers, benefiting them as well.
Group health insurance policies vary depending on the state, companies and employer plans, according to the National Association of Health Underwriters. Most states have different laws regarding the health insurance plans that employers must offer. Furthermore, the federal Affordable Care Act also changes the types of plans offered. Plans have to be rated either bronze, silver, gold or platinum and offer specific services as well as cover a certain percentage of expenses. For instance, bronze plans have to cover at least 60 percent of all medical expenses.
