Medical assistant grants include the Maxine Williams Scholarship Fund from the American Association of Medical Assistants and the Scholarship of Excellence from the Association of Schools of Allied Health Professions. Grants only cover a fraction of tuition costs.
As of 2016, the Maxine Williams Scholarship Fund offers a $1,000 grant and one-year membership to the American Association of Medical Assistants. Students need a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 and must be enrolled in a medical assistant program accredited by the Commission of Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs to be eligible for the fund. Application can be obtained from the medical assisting program director at a student’s specific school. Because grants only cover part of tuition costs, students should also submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid.
