The U.S. Small Business Administration is a federal agency that provides several loan programs to help small businesses. As of 2015, loan programs include the Basic 7(a) Loan Program, the 504 Loan Program and the Microloan 7(m) Loan Program. Individuals can use loan proceeds from the first two programs for working capital, equipment and real estate. They cannot use loans from the Microloan 7(m) Loan Program to purchase real estate or to pay off debt.
