Government farm programs include the Beginning and Socially Disadvantaged Farmer and Rancher Land Contract Guarantee Program, and the Environmental Quality Incentives Program, Organic Initiative. The website of the Center for Rural Affairs summarizes many of these programs.
The Beginning and Socially Disadvantaged Farmer and Rancher Land Contract Guarantee Program provides incentives to retiring landowners to sell their land to socially disadvantaged or beginner farmers or ranchers through private contracts. The program aims to help new farmers and ranchers overcome two of their biggest barriers: access to land and capital.
The Environmental Quality Incentives Program, Organic Initiative provides financial help to farmers and ranchers who aim to transition to or expand their existing organic farming practices, or simply improve conservation measures. The USDA's Natural Resource Conservation Service administers the program.
