Some good options for taking an electrocardiogram technician course include York College at the City University of New York's, Triton College and Johnson County Community College. EKG technicians are trained on specialized equipment that tests and monitors a patient's cardiovascular activity.
York College offers a certificate course that covers topics such as basic EKG interpretation, introduction to medical terminology and preparing a patient for EKG. Similar courses are offered at Triton College. Students who complete the course are eligible to take the certification exam. The EKG technician program at Johnson County Community College requires 60 hours, which includes 40 hours of on-campus coursework and three days of clinical work at Olathe Medical Center.
