A chocolate-covered Oreo cookie cake requires one package of devil's food cake mix, one package of semisweet baking chocolate and 1/4 cup of butter. Other ingredients include 8 ounces of brick cream cheese, 1/2 cup of sugar, 2 cups of thawed Cool Whip and 12 crushed Oreos.
The oven should be heated to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. The cake batter, which makes the two layers, should be mixed, baked in two 9-inch round pans and left to cool for 10 minutes. The pans should be inverted onto wire racks and removed. The layers need to cool thoroughly.
Microwave the chocolate and butter on high for 45 seconds to one minute or until the butter is melted. Stir the bowl until the chocolate is also melted, and let the bowl cool for five minutes. While it cools, use a mixer to beat the sugar and cream cheese. Add the Cool Whip and the crushed Oreos.
Put one of the cake layers on a plate, and spread the cream cheese, sugar, Cool Whip and Oreos mixture onto it. Put the other layer on top, and spread chocolate glaze on top. Give the cake 10 minutes to stand or become firm. Keep it refrigerated.
