Two organizations that work to save the polar bears include the World Wildlife Federation and Polar Bears International. Both charities offer several programs to prevent the decline of the polar bear and raise public awareness about the plight of the polar bear among the general public.
The World Wildlife Federation, or WWF, offers an Adopt A Polar Bear program that provides several adoption levels based on donation size. For a $55 donation (as of 2015), donors receive a plush polar bear, gift bag, photo and adoption certificate for a polar bear they are helping. Gift levels go up to $250, which allows the donor to adopt a polar bear family. It also offers monthly symbolic adoptions, group giving clubs and earth bonds as well as merchandise that helps support the foundation's efforts to save the polar bear.
Polar Bears International also offers several initiatives to save the polar bear and raises money for research and public awareness through its Save Our Sea Ice campaign, notes Polar Bears International. It also has a petition for polar bears available on its website, as of 2015.
Polar bears are threatened with population decline due to climate change that is causing ice to melt, encroaching on their territories and leaving them little room to live and less time to hunt, notes the WWF.
