Grocery and pharmacy customers earn one point for every dollar spent on qualifying items in Giant Food stores. Stores in Charlottesville, Virginia are exempt from this promotion. Purchases of alcoholic beverages, tobacco products, gift and phone cards, milk and Metro passes do not earn rewards points.

Every 100 points earned can be redeemed for a discount of 10 cents per gallon of gas, up to a maximum discount of $2.20 per gallon. Customers can usually redeem these rewards points directly at the pump by swiping their rewards card, but if they use the maximum discount, they must first notify the kiosk attendant. The discount also only applies to a maximum of 35 gallons of fuel for each purchase. There is no cap on reward points.

Gas rewards points expire 30 days after being earned if they are not used. Points become available for use within 24 hours after being earned or 48 hours for Peapod purchases.
