Whether checking online or on the telephone, the taxpayer must have a copy of the tax return on hand to verify information, states WI.gov.

The following shows one way of checking a tax refund status online via the Wisconsin Department of Revenue website.

  1. Go to the website
  2. Type WI.gov into the browser and press Enter.

  3. Click on the Individual tab
  4. Navigate to the individual taxpayer page by clicking on the Individual tab on the main menu of the home page.
