This is due, in part, the rise of popularity of modular homes. Although manufactured homes and modular homes are similar, and several companies that build manufactured homes also build modular homes, they are slightly different. Manufactured homes are built entirely on-site at the company's factory and then transported as a complete move-in ready unit. Modular homes are built on-site in pieces.
The pieces are then transported to the home build site and then assembled there. Another difference is that modular homes must be built on a foundation that is intended to be permanent. Manufactured homes do not have the same requirement and may be moved from one location to another. As with traditional homes, buyers are able to customize both manufactured and modular homes with a combination of upgrades and features that meet their needs and wishes.
