- Get regular exercise
Even if you don't feel like it, get 15 to 30 minutes of exercise every day to help fight depression. Exercise boosts endorphins, which make the brain feel good. It also may have long-term positive effects on depression.
- Eat healthily
Get proper nutrition, since what you eat can affect the way you feel. Be aware that depression can tempt some people to overeat and other people avoid food. Don't let yourself fall into either behavior. Foods that are rich in folic acid and omega-3 fatty acids may help fight depression.
- Talk about your problems
Talk to a friend or professional about your depression. Be honest with yourself and others about the way you feel. Just releasing your feelings may help put your situation into perspective.
