Features of the Employee Assistance Program from CSX include counseling, guidance and referral services related to an employee's personal and work problems. CXS also provides a 24-hour toll-free hotline that employees can call. Both employees and eligible family members of employees are eligible to use these services.
Counselors in the Employee Assistance Program can help with emotional distress, mental health problems, family and marriage difficulties and drug and alcohol abuse. Employees who call the 24-hour toll-free hotline can either speak to a counselor on the spot or arrange to talk to counselors personally in their regions. The counselor may also provide other resources for help in the employee's location.
CXS has a voluntary referral program, and may refer employees with alcohol or drug use problems, such as Operation RedBlock or another service. CXS has a policy to maintain confidentiality during these sessions, and also provides for a leave of absence for an affected employee of not less than 45 days if treatment is necessary.
There is no charge for employee services from CXS because they are part of the employee health benefit package. The program may cover some of the cost of services outside the company, but CXS tries to locate affordable programs to which they refer employees.
