The United States Department of Agriculture Farm Service Agency offers loans dedicated to women and minority ranchers and farmers, according to the agency's website. The agency states that it considers women and certain minorities to qualify as Socially Disadvantaged Applicants.
To be considered for the targeted loan funding, applicants must voluntarily disclose their gender, race and ethnicity on the loan application. The Socially Disadvantaged Applicant qualification includes women, African-Americans, Hispanics, Asians, Native Hawaiians, Pacific Islanders and Alaskan Natives. Farm Service Agency adds that the loan process is the same as for non-Socially Disadvantaged Applicants. Farm Service Agency Guaranteed loans, Direct Operating Loans and Direct Farm Ownership loans are available to women and minority candidates.
