Specific and general thank you messages are equally effective. Recognizing the contributions and the value of team members' expertise builds confidence, motivation and morale. Specific thank you messages might touch on a particular team member's talents and gifts and highlight her uniqueness.
General thank you messages can be cards, mass emails, tweets or face-to-face compliments. Creating original thank you messages allows for a very personal touch, but paraphrasing thank you messages by others is helpful when one can't find words.
For example, Letters.org has a virtual library of appreciation letters, as of 2015. Many of the letters are specifically for employee appreciation, and each letter contains several messages that users can customize to fit any particular work setting.
One such letter contains a message to the effect of, "I was pleased to see the team accomplish its goals. It's because of your team spirit that the presentation was a success. We are pleased to have you on our staff."
Letter.org also provides lists of related letters in each category, with potentially endless sources of ideas for staff appreciation messages.Learn more about HR
