An employment offer rescind letter revokes a previous offer of employment. Rescinded offers are typically those that have not yet been put in writing. Employers who rescind offers after both parties have agreed to them in writing may face legal repercussions.
Most initial offers of employment are contingent upon something, such as passing a background check. The most common reason for job offers to be rescinded are internal. Sometimes companies find themselves financially unable to support new hires and must initiate hiring freezes. Regardless of the reason for the offer being rescinded, however, once a contract is negotiated and in place, both parties have entered into a legal agreement. This makes rescinding a job offer a very serious move for a company.
