EBay offers a Business Equipment Purchase Protection program for all purchases of heavy equipment, such as tractors, trailers, excavators and backhoes. All other purchases, such as hand tools, are covered by the eBay Buyer Protection program.
The standard protection covers transactions done through eBay-approved purchasing methods, such as PayPal and credit card. The Business Equipment Purchase Protection program covers purchases over $1000 but must be done through eBay's business site. It covers up to $50,000 in damages, and no more than two claims can be submitted in a six-month period. Any purchases made with a credit card must be first disputed with the credit card company. All claims are handled by a third-party claims adjuster.
If a seller has previously sold items on eBay, a feedback score is available with ratings and a description of the buyer's experience.
