Dr. David B. Samadi is a board-certified urologic oncologist and is the Chairman of Urology and Chief of Robotic Surgery at Lenox Hill Hospital. He is also a Professor of Urology at Hofstra North Shore-LIJ School of Medicine, as well as the developer of an advanced SMART prostate cancer surgery technique. He has performed over 6,000 successful robotic prostate surgeries, and 89 percent of his patients who receive a robotic prostatectomy are cancer free.
Along with his expertise with the da Vinci Surgical System robot. Dr. Samadi is trained in open-radical prostatectomy and laparoscopic prostatectomy. He uses the UroNav prostate fusion biopsy system, which provides MRI images along with ultrasounds visualization. His office is the first in Manhattan to use the technology during surgery. Dr. Samadi has been named a top doctor by Castle Connolly, America's Top Doctors For Cancer, America's Top Doctors and New York Magazine.
Dr. Samadi earned his M.D. from Stony Brook School of Medicine. He received postgraduate training at Montefiore Medical Center, Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and Henri Mondor Hospital Creteil in France. He began his career at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital. Dr. Samadi joined the faculty at Mt. Sinai School of Medicine and later became the Chair of the Urology department.
