To donate lightly used items to the Military Order of the Purple Heart, go to PurpleHeartPickup.org and click on Schedule a Pick-up. On the designated day, label the items for Purple Heart and place them outside in the morning. You do not need to be home for the pick up.
Donate any women's, men's and children's clothing, shoes and accessories to Purple Heart. You can also donate household items such as kitchenware, toys, small appliances, electronics and books. Purple Heart does not accept large appliances, computer monitors, tube TVs, furniture or grills. A full list of acceptable and unacceptable items is available by clicking on What We Accept on the website. Donations are tax deductible.
As of 2015, Purple Heart contracts with GreenDrop to collect donated items on its behalf and convert them to funds needed to support veterans' programs. GreenDrop raises funds by selling the donated items to thrift stores. In addition to its pick-up service, GreenDrop also operates drop-off locations. To find a drop-off location, click on Find Now under Find the Nearest GreenDrop Location on the website.
In addition to clothing and household items, the Purple Heart Foundation accepts car donations and monetary donations to support American veterans and their families. To learn more about donating cash or cars, go to PurpleHeartFoundation.org and click on Donate.
