Two Men and a Truck originated in the early 1980s in Lansing, Michigan, with the Sorber brothers, Brig and Jon, and an old pick-up truck. The brothers began moving people because they needed to make some extra money while they were in high school.
They had their mother, Mary Ellen Sheets, design the stick figure logo that has become the symbol of the company. After the brothers left for college, Sheets continued to receive phone calls asking for moving services. In 1985, she spent $350 on a box truck and hired two men, and it was the only money she ever had to invest in the company. As of 2012, Two Men and a Truck had more than 2,000 trucks and was the largest franchised local moving company in the world.
