Boyd Gaming switched to paperless pay in an effort to strengthen its commitment to a sustainable environment and eliminate the unnecessary waste caused by printing pay stubs. It is estimated a company can save roughly $500 per person per year by making this environmentally friendly switch.
Some research has estimated 85 percent of identity theft cases occur because of paper documents; therefore, Boyd Gaming's decision is in the interest of individual employee safety. Paper documents are also at risk of being lost in transition or destroyed during a disaster. The switch to electronic payment ensures a lower risk of lost documents and allows backup files to be created and stored in a way that avoids destruction in the event of a fire, flood or other catastrophe.
