In the United Kingdom, many car manufacturers offer new cars with free insurance for at least one year, according to Car Wow. As of 2016, free insurance offers are available with the purchase of several Peugot models, the Skoda Fabia, the Volkswagen Polo, the Vauxhall Corsa and the Vauxhall Adam. The Ford Fiesta and the Fiat 500 are available with subsidies towards the purchase of insurance. Several of the deals have age restrictions, and most are targeted towards young drivers.
According to Fiat, 35 percent of U.K. drivers between ages 17 and 25 don't purchase cars because the combined cost of ownership and insurance is prohibitively expensive. Those who do buy cars are often not able to afford a new one. In 2015, Fiat offered its I-Deal promotion on the Fiat 500 to drivers as young as 18, who could purchase the vehicle with a maintenance package and insurance included in the monthly payment, according to Fiat. Insurance was provided by Carrot and underwritten by Zurich Insurance.
Marmalade, a U.K. insurance company, sponsors the Fuel & Go Cars for Young Drivers program. According to the company, it provides financing for new vehicles and free insurance for the first year in most locations.
