What Is a CR Seals Cross-Reference?

A CR seals cross-reference is a tool for finding compatible oil seals from the seal manufacturer Chicago Rawhide’s competitors. Chicago Rawhide is a subsidiary of SKF and does not have a standalone cross-reference for its oil seals. Both CR seals and SKF seals use the same cross-reference information.

There are two ways to cross-reference oil seals: a traditional oil seal interchange and electronic oil seal cross-reference tools. Traditional oil seal interchanges are available directly from manufacturers and are often printed as part of a company’s oil seal catalog. Electronic cross-reference tools are available on the manufacturer’s website, and many oil seal and industrial parts distributors also have electronic cross-reference tools.

Use a traditional interchange or cross-reference chart by finding your oil seal’s manufacturer in the chart’s topmost row. Work your way down the manufacturer’s column until you find your oil seal’s model number. All other oil seals on the same row are interchangeable with each other. Occasionally, oil seal manufacturers use a different interchange format with individual chapters or sections for each of their competitors instead of the traditional chart.

Use an electronic CR seals cross-reference by entering the model number of your oil seal and pressing the Search button. Most tools return a list of compatible oil seals with appropriate manufacturers and model numbers.
