The Lupus America Household Goods Program allows prospective donors to schedule a home pick-up either online or by telephone. The donor places the items to be donated on the front curb by 7:30 a.m. on pick-up day, clearly marking everything "LF" to indicate that it is being donated.
The program is only available in New York, New Jersey, Virginia, Maryland and Washington D.C. as of 2015. Pick-ups in New York and New Jersey have a separate website, LupusPickup.org, than the rest of the program, which uses LupusPickupDates.com instead. The two areas also have different phone numbers.
Items wanted include clothing, shoes, bedding items, jewelry and toys. Furniture and large items are explicitly labelled as unwanted by the charity. The program's driver leaves a donation receipt at the time of pick-up. This can be used for tax deduction purposes, but it is the responsibility of the donor to ascertain the value of donated merchandise.
