Some complaints that have been filed with Consumer Reports about DR Horton Homes report that houses were sold with broken countertops, representatives missed appointments or were difficult to communicate with, texture peeled off the walls within one year, toilets appeared old and refurbished, tub surfaces cracked and looked worn within one year and an air conditioner drain pan overflowed, causing a leak over the bay window of a kitchen. Other complaints include an electrical shortage, an ignored request for a deposit refund, unexpected rescheduling of a closing date and a faulty hot water heater, according to Consumer Affairs.
Other complaints that have been made against DR Horton Homes include a financial mistake that resulted in difficult loan processing and the raising of a monthly payment. Paint jobs were also reported as being substandard as well as trim jobs weren't straight or flush with the hardwood floors.
Another complaint reported that the only thermostat in the house was located upstairs in the loft. Customer complaints include a broken sprinkler system, a large hole in the wall, cracks in the foundation, poor fence quality, a difficult repair of an air conditioner leak, mismatched kitchen cabinet doors, cracks in the tiles and misrepresentation of properties for sale, according to Consumer Affairs.
