Naya Spring Water, based in Canada, was reportedly the first company to use 100 percent recycled plastic to make their bottles for water. As of 2011, Nestle Waters began making bottles with 50 percent recycled materials for water through their Arrowhead brand.
Naya also donates 1 percent of their total revenue to environmental programs. Most bottled water companies are exploring more environmentally friendly options due to consumer demand. Coca-Cola, for example, released a 30 percent sugarcane resin bottle for Dasani, called PlantBottle, and saw a 20 percent increase in revenue. Pepsi has created their 100 percent plant based bottles, and Coca-Cola is looking into this option as well.
