These companies have several keythings in common, along with the15 other companions ranked highly in leadership by the Hay Group study. Most of these organizations enable leadership to have flexibility, so that employees can work on projects as needed rather than limiting attention to one thing at a time.
These companies also have effective leadership because they are open to trying new things to improve, potentially at the expense of making a profit. They also allowemployees to take on leadership roles and move forward with great ideas, even if theemployees are notin obvious leadership positions. All of thecompanies also regularly hire qualified individuals to fill leadership roles.
The number one company for effective leadership, General Electric, is lauded for effective leadership because it encourages creativity and unique thinking. GE's CEO, Jeff Immelt, has shown commitment to the company, having been with it since 1982. He has been named one of the best CEOs in the world by Barron's.
The qualities of effective leaders may be subjective, but those who are able to make commitments, are aware of their strengths and weaknesses and are cognizant of how people perceive them are considered to be effective leaders by the Daily News.
