What Are the Common Positions in an Assisted Living Facility?

Common positions in an assisted living facility include nurses and personal care aides, housekeeping, custodial, dining and administrative staff, and volunteers. Management-level positions typically include the facility administrator, the medical director and director of nursing, the admissions coordinator and supervisors for housekeeping and dining.

Smaller facilities may have fewer positions with staff members having broader duties. The patients' level of care determines the need for certain positions. A physical therapist may be on staff or may provide services on a visiting basis. Nursing staff may include registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, certified nurse assistants, medical attendants and personal care aides.
