Getting your child into modeling requires taking photos of your child, sending photos to reputable modeling agencies, getting accepted by a modeling agency and taking your child to modeling job appointments. Be cautious of scams asking for upfront money to get your child into modeling. Legitimate agencies don't require payment to sign child models.
There is no need to spend large sums of money hiring a professional photographer to take photos of your child to send to modeling agencies. Take a few simple color snapshots of your child, using a camera or mobile device that takes clear pictures. One or more photos should be a close up of your child's head and upper shoulder area, which is called a "head shot." Take one or more full body shots so agencies can get a full view of the child. Photos should be natural and not depict the child in strange or silly poses. Don't use props such as party hats.
Important details to write on the back of photos include the child's name, parent's name, hair and eye color, clothing size and contact information. Find modeling agencies that work with children, and send your child's photos to agencies. It can take up to several weeks to hear back from agencies. A successful applicant is invited to come in and sign a professional modeling contract.
