To check your Employees' Provident Fund balance online, visit the Employee Provident Fund Organisation website, which provides a link to an online Member Balance lookup tool. Select the state where your account is maintained from a drop-down list, and then choose the appropriate office from the list of offices displayed. Enter your Provident Fund account number, name and mobile telephone number in the online form, and click Submit. Your balance information is sent to your mobile device via SMS text.
Your employee Provident Fund number should include the establishment code and account number, with a maximum of seven digits for both, explains EFPO. The region and office code is filled in automatically. Do not enter the three-digit extension code if your account does not have one.
Note that the balance information provided is current as of the last update. The list of offices displayed by the website after you select your state shows the last date that accounts were updated, explains EFPO. The balance amount reflects the latest approved transactions of settlements, advances or transfers in and out, if any.
The Economic Times of India provides a brief slideshow with instructions on balance look-up. It notes that the account number and member name should be entered exactly as they appear in your records.
