Check the balance on a Vanilla credit card by calling the number listed on the back of the card. Alternately, visit either Vanilla Visa or Vanilla Mastercard's official website and enter the card number, expiration date, and security code to produce real time card balance information.
Vanilla Cards are offered in amounts of $25, $50 and $100. Cards without a predetermined denomination can be purchased and loaded with funds between $20 and $500. Balances are not transferable to another card, and cards cannot be reloaded once empty.
The Vanilla Card can be used at any establishment that accepts Visa or Mastercard debit cards. They can be used as a credit or debit card, barring a PIN number has been chosen. If a purchase costs more than the balance on the card, the transaction will be declined; make sure to tell cashiers that two payment methods will be used. Additionally, cards with balances under $75 may be declined when trying to pay for gas at the pump. Instead - pay inside.
There are applicable fees with the Vanilla Card. Service fees of around $3 are charged monthly after seven months of activation. If the card is lost or stolen, the remaining balance can be replaced, but there is a service fee of around $6 to do so. All fees are deducted directly from the card's balance.
